This Is Useful Information About Australian Labradoodles

By Gary Wagner

Labradoodles were developed in Australia as a special guide dog breed through crossbreeding Labrador Retrievers and Poodles. This was done by the RGDAA which is an association responsible with the enforcement of guide dog standards in Australia. The result of their effort was a dog breed that was a smart and sociable with a strong guiding instinct. It is because of this that the breed qualified as a guide dog making it useful to many.

Serving as a hypoallergenic service dogs was the initial target of creating labradoodles. In many classifications, Australian labradoodles fall under designer dogs because they are hardly purebred. Although the breed was initially targeted to be absolutely hypoallergenic, the breed proved to be versatile as both a family and therapy dog. Buying a puppy is more valuable than the work and cost involved.

The dog is highly sociable and enjoys the company of its owner a lot. She is a strong dog, a trait inherited from the Labrador Retriever. It also exhibits a strong work ethic, which is something inherited from the poodle. As such, labradoodles has the best mixture of both the parents. This has made the breed very popular not just in Australia where it originated, but also globally.

Labradoodles are in three major size classifications. Normally, the size of the poodle used in the initial generation determines the size of the resultant puppy. Miniature, medium and standard are the three size classifications available. Therefore, the category of the species may range from medium to miniature. Normally, in many dog species, males have larger bodies and more weight compared to females. This applies to Labradoodles as well.

All the three size categories usually have a specific weight range. The standard-sized dogs are usually the biggest and the heaviest reaching a maximum of 65 pounds and 24 inches in height. The miniatures are usually the smallest while the medium ones lie in between the other two size classes. A medium-sized labradoodle usually attains a weight of 45 pounds and can grow up to 20 inches at the shoulders.

It is easy to train labradoodle puppies since they are great learners and possess a high trainability level. After being made to repeat few basic skills they can master within a short period. The first training for the puppies need to be crate training, this will make the puppy know that if it needs to be alone they need to stay inside. The next training should be teaching them to poop at a specific point inside the house or outside.

With room training, the dog knows how to conduct themself well when in the house. Such trainings need to be given when the dog is young. This enables them to learn easily and develop good habits. Puppies also need to be taught to walk on a leash when they are outside. This ensures that the owners gets an easy time walking the dog during the daily exercise session.

The most important thing is feeding the dog in the correct way. One needs to avoid animal foods that are thought to be toxic to dogs. To avoid any health issues, one needs to observe proper feeding practices when feeding their dog.
