About The Dangers Of Cooked Foods

It's all about staying healthy, young and beautiful. If you can make it happen simply by eating some particular type of food, of course, you should try. Everybody talks about raw nowadays. Organically grown vegetables in their natural state, non-processed, fresh and full of vitamins and minerals, or any other raw food should be better for you. But, some are difficult to digest.

Fresh and raw is healthier. When it comes to the dangers of cooked foods, the first thing that comes to mind is the destruction of vitamins. On the other hand, cooking kills various parasites and bad bacteria in meats, for example. Maybe the right answer isn't in choosing just cooked or just raw, but in finding the right balance. Anyway, overcooking any type of foods is bad for you.

Lately, it's quite popular to eat raw because it is a good way for losing weight. Vegetables don't have many calories, and, in their raw state, you cannot eat so much. When you cook them, it is possible to consume more, and, in this case, you will probably have to eat much more to get the same amount of nutritive substances.

Some vitamins get destroyed by exposing to high temperatures. One of these vitamins is vitamin C. Some other vitamins won't be affected so much, and minerals will probably remain on a similar level. Of course, this also depends on the temperature. Lower temperatures are much better, and overcooking is something you should never do.

Some other substances, such as enzymes, won't survive the heating process. And this is a shame because they are quite valuable. Some veggies may be cooked, steamed or baked and still remain really valuable, for example, tomatoes and carrots. Beta-carotene in carrots needs some heat to become useful. But, you should still choose alternative techniques, such as steaming.

Fruits are definitely better if consumed fresh. If you want to make your favorite marmalade anyway, try to make it as quickly as you can, without exposing your fruits to the heat more than you have to. The easiest way of doing this is to slice fruits and cover them with sugar and to leave them so for a while, and after that, cook the mixture for a minute or two only.

People use other ways of preparing foods for ages, and some are quite healthy, for example, fermenting. Sauerkraut is full of vitamin C, among other things, and can be consumed as it is. Fresh, organic foods are still the best option. They are alive and bring living energy. If you have to cook them, use steam or low heat only, to preserve the majority of valuable substances.

There are some types of compounds that get altered by cooking and become dangerous for human health, or even carcinogenic. Overcooking is probably the main reason for different allergies today, at least this is something many experts say. Find the right balance, and eat as many fresh foods as you can, and cook using low heat and steaming. Think about what you eat and you will live longer and healthier.
