On the flip side, powders neither drip nor run. As such, they can be spread into very fine films.

The surface needs to be well prepared beforehand for the coating to work effectively. Any residue materials such as dirt, grease and oil need to be removed effectively. Removal of such materials can be done through pressure washing and in a case where the surface is oily, then warm water can be used in pressure washing. The cleaning needs to be thorough for best results to be achieved.

After cleaning of the surface has been done, the surface is dipped into an acid bath. The acid bath is necessary so that the surface can be etched. Etching is necessary so that the bond between the powder and the substrate is improved. It is also necessary since it ensures a thin and uniform layer is formed over the substrate by the powder.

The actual coating entails the use of a spray gun. The gun applies a find layer of powder over the substrate before it is taken into an oven for curing. Curing is done at an elevated temperature before the substrate is allowed to cool off. Once cooled, the substrate is taken out of the oven and is ready for use.
