How To Make Teaching Better With Christian Education Principles For Teachers

By Carol Nelson

It is a blessing to be a teacher. Apart from parents, children are always in direct contact with their teachers. This means that he has the opportunity to instill certain qualities that are enviable. This can be done more easily when he or she has been taught some Christian education principles for teachers.

A teacher who wants to be successful should have a sense of mission. This means that he is not just seeing himself as someone who is there to fend for himself but rather, as someone who has been placed there by God to make a difference. This means that even if he wants another job, it should be in another school that is probably bigger.

A Christian teacher whose major concern is to do his best for Christ is likely to do much better than one who is striving on his own to attain perfection. Thus, the teacher must be prayerful and commit his ways to the Lord. As he attains any level of success, he must give the glory back to God who can help him do more in the future.

The love that exists between the student and his teacher can go a long way in saving both his life and that of his family if it is genuine. Students with family problems can feel free talking to their teachers about them if he is loving and easy to approach. There are secrets only you as a teacher would get to know about certain students if you are loving.

Another principle that every teacher should have as a Christian is being less money conscious. The truth is that no amount of money is enough to repay a teacher who does his work faithfully. If what is paid is enough to cater for basic needs, the teacher should feel satisfied. Who knows, one of those students may grow up, get a good job and remember the sacrifices made by his teacher when he was a child.

One thing that must not be lacking in the life of a Christian teacher is humility. Being humble does not mean making yourself easily attacked by the students. It rather means knowing what they want and finding out how best to meet them even without being told. Some teachers do it the wrong way by expecting their students to be formal in all issues even when things are going wrong.

A teacher who has no genuine relationship with God may not go far. First, these important principles will be hard to practice or he may not even have them at all. A teacher who relates well to God is also more protected from the risks of the teaching profession.

These are not the only principles a teacher should have to achieve success in his chosen career. There are many more that can be learned as he attends seminars and workshops. This may not be easy but as the popular saying goes, nothing good comes easy. Therefore, if you want to be the best in this field, you have to be ready to make some sacrifices.
