Exploring New And Different Creative Teaching Ideas

By George Ross

In this day and age of the World Wide Web, teachers often have a number of options on how to relay information to a class. In one case, teachers can provide reading assignments which the students can complete in class or at home on a desktop, laptop or tablet. Whereas, more creative teachers tend to find new and different creative teaching ideas which can often get students out of the classroom, thinking and more involved in projects.

Teachers in need of help locating creative ideas may want to visit a number of teacher related websites. For, there are several which provide a variety of teaching methods which are considered more creative than traditional forms. In fact, one TeachThought provides over one hundred suggestions which teachers can use based on age, grade and skill. Whereas, there are others which provide listings of activities and lesson plans which are appropriate for students of all ages and grade levels.

Some of the most common and popular of these alternative forms of teaching include embracing weirdness, owning ideas, carrying a notebook and keeping a sharp and clear mind. Whereas, brainstorming as a group and encouraging students to read and learn both in and outside the classroom can often have dramatic effects when it comes to learning about independent study.

The others, while often less popular, include working together in class, brainstorming as a unit, building storyboards and teaching students how to monitor and resolve real world issues. In the process, using websites such as Pinterest and sharing a creative spirit can also be of great help. For, while some teachers can come up with original ideas, there are others whom can use the inspiration these websites provide.

When using these creative techniques, social skills are also enhanced over the course of time. For, while the internet and home schooling have merits, the loss of learning about how to interact with others and other social skills often get lost in the process. As such, when students can share in assignments, tasks and other projects, most learn how to work well in a team environment.

When thinking about these alternative teaching forms, it is clear that the intent is often to take a step back in time to an actual working classroom. In doing so, it is often easier to build closer relationships between parents, students and teachers. After which, it can often be easier for all involved to discuss any issues which may arise with regards to behavioral or learning over the term of a class.

It is important that teachers contact administrators for approval before putting new lesson plans into place. For, while some schools and districts allow for these alternative forms of teaching, other districts and schools provide for a more structured learning experience. As such, to avoid conflict, it is often best to check with administrators before moving forward with an alternative aspect when it comes to teaching.

Ultimately, teachers who have the ability to create interesting and unusual lesson plans are often going to relate better to students. For, when learning is fun, students often respond better than those forced into structures and testing programs. In some cases, teachers have been known to propose these creative ideas to schools and districts which resulted in a more creative and open teaching platform.
