A Checklist To Choose A Montessori Wellesley School

By Barbara Ellis

As you are on this article right now, chances are very good that you are in the market for a new school for your kids. In fact now that you have just moved into the area, you have made it a personal mission to find the best Montessori Wellesley school for your children or child as the case may be. In order for you to have an easier time at it, do read on in this article.

Before you do embark on your search, do go about and prepare a checklist beforehand. This will ensure that you leave no stone unturned and do no listen to others who may scoff at this idea. Remember that our pure memory cannot be relied on and sometimes it will falter. Having a checklist means we have everything in check, no pun intended.

Distance between where you live and where the school is should be considered as something of prime importance. When the school is close by, it will be advantageous to you as you can respond to any emergency that much sooner. Likewise if it is close to your home, it will mean less tardy times for your child and also your child can be picked up that much earlier from school when classes end.

Something that you should look at next will be the reputation of the school and their track record in childhood development. You definitely need a school that has high marks in both. You can of course ask around for opinions and such or you can also go online and search forums for the best school that can be had for your needs.

It is also a good idea to visit any school that you have a mind on and not just depend on adverts and brochures. Go to the school to make an actual ocular inspection and check out their facilities, especially looking at how good their security is and how safe their areas are, particularly playing areas. Cleanliness is something that you should look at too.

You should also look at the possibility of talking with administrators while you are on the premises of the school during your visit. Talking with administrators will give you the opportunity to gauge the efficiency of the school in terms of how it is run. Inquire about achievements and future plans of the school and have a look at the school calendar if you are able. A good calendar will show a good balance of activities that cover the academic and non academic realms.

It may also be a good idea to find and talk to the future teachers of your child or children. Engage them in conversations regarding the Montessori method to gauge the authenticity of the school and strategies that they use. This is because there are schools that purport to use Montessori methods when they do not. It is also good to look over the class materials and see if they cover the whole range of cosmic, sensorial and practical life competencies taught in the Montessori method.

And do not be afraid to ask about certain items on the tuition fees and such for the year. Some schools program a lot of hidden costs that should be questioned, and this is shown as miscellaneous fees and the like. Always ask about items that you are not very sure of, especially when it comes to money.
