What To Know About Brain Facts And Myths

By Amy Carter

Having a bigger brain does not assure more cognitive power. Many assume that humans are the smartest species on earth. Actually, there are falsehoods or myths that are widely assumed and believed. Some of them depend on a scrap of truth whilst others occur from misinterpretations. However, they disguise themselves as truths are passed along with no questions at all.

Basically, it takes more courage to challenge the legitimacy of a myth covered in scientific language. As you can see, myths about the cerebrum have been challenging and hard to quash since the brain is not fully understood. But as the years go by, scientists have learned enough to dishonor some popular Brain Facts and Myths.

There are falsehoods and common facts behind the statements. Actually, many people believed that their brains are used all the time. Although some consider it as a myth but some say it is true since every individual is using their brains on a daily basis. For example, reading his article involves using the frontal lobes to understand and comprehend whilst the cerebellum helps you remain circulating blood, seated, and breathing.

The next thing is that playing a crossword puzzle helps maintain a young functioning cerebrum. Basically, crosswords are not just for fun but also useful in improving your ability to find words. It is helpful to improve cognition and memory of your cerebrum. Some assume that playing the puzzle helps prevent Alzheimer but there is no evidence that could support the claim.

That is because puzzles could only bend a part of the cerebrum which is word finding. Although they help you find words but it does not keep the keenness of the cerebrum in a major sense. There is also a myth that the entire personality of an individual displays both left and right brain dominance. Perhaps you have heard that individuals who are left brained are more logical and technical while the right brained ones are more artistic and creative.

But there is a research that shows two hemispheres working together in a complex processing. Usually, language processing for an instance was once guaranteed to be a great source of the left hemisphere only. But it turns out that it takes place in left and right hemispheres which the left side is best for grammar and pronunciation while the right is meant for intonation.

Another myth is that damage is permanent, but the truth is it can compensate or repair for specific losses and produce new cells. A lot of people once assumed that everyone is born with limited cells and if any of them are damaged, you could not get them back. But now you know that the cerebrum remains intact for a lifetime and generate new cells for some time.

Some people say that consuming alcoholic drinks kill cells. But the truth is, moderate drinking does not kill cells and while too much drinking can damage the hemisphere but not because of the cell death. Basically, alcoholic individuals may experience damage because of too much drinking which may cause problems in cell communication.

After so many decades of study, researchers have started to understand how to design and improve effective tools to keep and enhance cerebrum functions. Exercises are made to speed up and enhance the functions. Each exercise is proven by scientists to help individuals think faster, remember more, and focus better. These improvements help for whatever things to you such as family, friends, and work.
