It enables all students to fully develop their potential through the free public program. An advocate on the other hand is a person whose profession is to legally represent their clients and ensure that their voices are heard. Advocate for Special Education are tasked with the responsibility of protecting the rights of its clients and strives to ensure that any barriers limiting the client from fully participating in their community life are removed.

An advocate responsibility include providing clients with legal and realistic solutions, providing clients with factual information, analyzing and clarifying any problems that may arise, assuring that the interest of clients are met, promoting justice and fair treatment, ensure that all possible options have been explored, exercise their responsibilities justly and ethically, provide factual and clear support information and also develop a positive professional relationship with their clients.

Special education is a program designed to provide free learning to students with mental, social, physical or emotional delays. Delays meaning development delay that places the student behind as compared to his or her peers. These specialized programs have over the years adapted to new teaching methodology and effective delivery instructions to meet the specific needs of the children.

Some of disabilities dealt with are categorized under the following groups; traumatic brain injury, TBI, as the name suggests, this category refers to acquired injury of the brain which may result in partial or complete impairment. Some of the impairments in this category are language, reasoning, memory, speech, attention, psychosocial behavior, physical function, judgement, problem solving and also information processing.

This kind of advocate also known as an individualized learning program, IEP, expert helps parents write IEPs and access special learning programs. The expert negotiates with the school on behalf of the clients, helps write letters to the school for follow ups, provides recommendation for top list specialists, school districts and evaluators, reviews the child IEP plan, sets up meeting with the school and informs the client of the laws governing the program.

A good advocate is understanding of the client situation, is ethically while performing his role, is hardworking and ensures that he has done more than enough on the client and his childs background, has enough knowledge on the laws that govern the s educational program, is assertive, is trustworthy and honest, he maintains the code of confidentiality and refrains from abusive conduct and illegal means of practice.

Hiring such an expert for your child is important since he offers legal advice on the laws that guide the program, he reviews with the parents the child IEP and he assists the clients in understanding the rights of their child.

It is important to hire an advocate since he or she can negotiate with the special education school on your behalf, he or she also creates awareness to the client about the child rights, he or she also recommends specialists, evaluators and school districts, offers advice on educational support, facilitates meetings with the school, meditates on dispute created in the meetings and reviews an IEP plan for the child.
