Open wheel racers and stock cars are the two most common types of vehicles that are used. The open wheels are built particularly for racing purpose while the stock cars can either be switched for racing or for a street vehicle, depending in the degree of usage.

Equipment requirements, dimensions, prohibitions, and engine size are the common rules. Also, these are considered as sophisticated when talking about dirt racing. Most of these will be raced in tracks with a distance of one fourth to a mile.

Limited late model has rules which are similar to a late model. Their only difference is their motor rules. Typically, the engine limitations will include the carburetor size, compression ratios, cylinder head angle, and displacement size of engine. A late model stock has a very similar body rule with the super late models and the limited late models. This type has a more limited rules for the engine. Crate late models use engines having special tags. Parts that are sealed with tags include cylinder head, oil pan, intake manifold, and front cover. The engines specifications should not be modified and altered.

Other car types are modified manufactured. Productions for modified cars with highest division contain only few of the original parts. Usually, glass windshields will be removed and interiors are being stripped out.
